David Edward Edsall Jr

David Edsall is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department and its Environmental Litigation and Mass Tort Practice Group, as well as its White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Group.

Mr. Edsall’s practice ranges from general civil litigation matters to large scale internal investigations. He has experience in all areas of complex litigation in both federal and state court, including motion practice, depositions, working with experts, and trial preparation. His investigation experience includes representing clients in both internal and government investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and responding to government subpoenas.

Mr. Edsall’s recent representative matters have included:

Representing a former government defense contractor against the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Defense in a cost recovery action involving trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchlorate contamination.
Representing a multinational petroleum corporation in a highly publicized trial and international arbitration to defend against enforcement of a fraudulently obtained multibillion dollar environmental judgment.
Representing a major U.S. accounting firm in a state court civil litigation.
Representing a municipality and a non-profit organization in separate matters involving the dissolution of redevelopment agencies in California.
Representing a technology corporation in an investigation relating to the FCPA.

Mr. Edsall earned his law degree in 2009 from the University of Southern California, where he served as a Senior Submissions Editor of the Southern California Law Review. He graduated summa cum laude in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is an active member of the American Bar Association.

Mr. Edsall is admitted to practice law in the State of California.
