Mr. Thompson's practice includes public finance and municipal law, chiefly focused on bond counsel and underwriter's counsel work.

Mr. Thompson has worked on a variety of public finance transactions, including general obligation, revenue and assessment bond issues, lease financings, short-term obligations, industrial development bonds and certificates of participation. He has worked on variable rate and commercial paper issues and other credit enhanced bonds. He has helped structure public-private financing transactions for municipalities and nonprofit organizations. He has worked with the full range of the firm's municipal clients in Washington and Alaska: cities, counties, boroughs, school districts, port districts, public utility districts and other special districts. Mr. Thompson's representative bond counsel clients include King County, Tacoma, University Place, White River and Stanwood-Camano Island school districts, the cities of Ocean Shores, Port Angeles, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, and Westport, Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Fairbanks North Star Borough, and port districts in Bellingham and Moses Lake. He has also served as underwriter's counsel for UBS Financial Services Inc., Citigroup Global Markets and Banc of America Securities.

Mr. Thompson is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the King County Bar Association and the Alaska Bar Association.
