Derek Neilson

Derek Neilson is a senior associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Group, with particular emphasis on patent litigation. Mr. Neilson has experience litigating patents relating to a wide variety of technologies, including telecommunications, web-enabled services, e-commerce systems, and networking components. Mr. Neilson has represented clients in various district courts across the United States, including the Eastern District of Texas and the Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California.

Mr. Neilson received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was a member of the Virginia Journal of International Law. Mr. Neilson is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and holds a B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Prior to entering law school, Mr. Neilson worked as a structural engineer, performing seismic analysis on nuclear facilities.
