Erica L. Gerson is of counsel in Steptoe's Washington office, where she is a member of the Litigation Department.

Ms. Gerson’s practice concentrates on arbitration and complex litigation. She has extensive experience advising clients on litigation strategy in cases involving administrative, constitutional, environmental, insurance and securities law issues. During the past several years, Ms. Gerson has participated in several trials, achieving successful outcomes for her clients.

Ms. Gerson represents insurance companies in cases before arbitration panels, federal courts and state courts in cases where there are allegations of breach of contract, fraud, misrepresentation, unfair trade practices, and bad faith. These cases arise out of directors and officers liability, securities litigation, business interruption claims, defective products, property valuation products, environmental contamination, and large-scale property damage claims.

Additionally, Ms. Gerson’s practice includes managing internal investigations regarding allegations of civil rights violations, compliance with antitrust laws, and allegations of employee misconduct. Ms. Gerson also represents clients in connection with responding to civil investigative demands.

Pro Bono

Ms. Gerson is chair of the Advisory Board for DC’s Children’s Law Center and provides pro bono representation to foster parents in adoption cases. In addition, Ms. Gerson volunteers by providing training to individuals regarding the use of consumer financial products and debt management strategies at seminars hosted by nonprofit organizations.
