Erik B. von Zeipel

Erik is a partner in Seyfarth Shaw’s Los Angeles office.

A member of the firm’s Litigation department, Erik maintains a broad litigation and counseling practice representing businesses in a variety of areas. Erik has significant experience in complex litigation, including class actions, trade secrets, breach of contract, unfair competition, construction, and real estate lawsuits.

Erik has successfully prosecuted, defended and favorably resolved numerous significant matters in both state and federal courts. Clients value his practical approach to problem solving, driven by client needs and early assessment of the facts and strategic options throughout litigation.

Erik is the Chair of Seyfarth Shaw’s Southern California Pro Bono Committee. As part of his pro bono work, Erik has helped establish non-profits and obtained recognition of tax-exempt status for charities benefiting clean technologies and individuals with spinal-cord injuries, helped families with adoptions, and provided legal services to the homeless. Erik serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Counsel for Justice, which raises funds for nonprofits providing legal services to veterans, immigrants, domestic violence survivors, and people living with HIV and AIDS. Erik is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation.

Erik is a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Using Lean Six Sigma and project management methodologies, the SeyfarthLean approach delivers increased value to clients at a time of increased market pressures and competitive demands. Seyfarth’s commitment to delivering legal services in a new way—with an emphasis on value and continuous improvement—has been praised by the Association of Corporate Counsel as being “five years ahead of every other AmLaw 200 firm.”

Erik majored in Business-Economics and minored in Accounting in college. During law school, he studied International law, European Union law and Chinese law in England, the Netherlands and China. While in law school, he also passed the California CPA exam and has been involved in several matters involving complex accounting issues. In 2006, Erik was sworn in as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales (currently non-practicing).
