Evan Tilton is Of Counsel in Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher’s Dallas office. Mr. Tilton currently practices in the firm’s Litigation Department with an emphasis on White Collar Defense and Investigations.
Mr. Tilton devotes a significant portion of his practice to advising international clients regarding compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. As a member of the firm’s Latin America team, he is currently participating with other Gibson Dunn lawyers in a large international monitorship. In addition, Mr. Tilton has conducted FCPA investigations and advised clients regarding FCPA issues in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Mr. Tilton also conducts compliance training for senior executive officers and employees from around the world.
In addition to his white collar defense practice, Mr. Tilton has successfully argued appeals in both federal and state courts, and litigated large and complex commercial disputes. Mr. Tilton has represented clients in a variety of disputes including False Claims Act, environmental toxic tort, land use, breach of contract, employment, products liability, and insurance-related disputes. He has represented clients in a variety of forums and as lead counsel Mr. Tilton has participated in several mediations.
Mr. Tilton is a member of the State Bar of Texas’ Pro Bono College. His pro bono efforts include securing religious asylum for an Egyptian Coptic Christian, political asylum for a native of Rwanda, and withholding of removal for a mentally ill permanent resident from India.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tilton served as a law clerk to the Honorable Monroe G. McKay of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Mr. Tilton earned his law degree summa cum laude from J. Reuben Clark Law School of Brigham Young University and graduated valedictorian of the class of 2001. While at J. Reuben Clark Law School, Mr. Tilton served as Managing Editor of BYU's Law Review, President of the Student Bar Association, and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He also received several awards including the J. Reuben Clark Award and the Hugh B. Brown Barristers Award. Mr. Tilton received his bachelor of arts degree in international relations from Brigham Young University in 1992.
Mr. Tilton is a member of the State Bar of Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit.
