F. Drexel Feeling

Drexel Feeling has extensive experience acquiring and protecting the intellectual property rights of his clients. He defends against patent infringement actions and enforces clients' patent rights in various courts and the ITC and challenges competitor patents through reexamination in the U.S. Patent Office. He develops and manages client patent portfolios, analyzes competitors' patent portfolios, presents opinions on patent-related matters, provides prelitigation patent counseling, and assists in M&A transactions where significant IP is involved. Drexel has successfully prosecuted numerous mechanical, electrical, software, and business method patents.

Drexel has successfully defended clients in many popular venues for patent litigation. While defending one of the world's largest wireless communications companies in the Eastern District of Texas, he successfully invalidated the asserted patent through his persuasive summary judgment brief and hearing presentation, which was affirmed on appeal to the Federal Circuit.

Before joining Jones Day, Drexel served as an engineer in the U.S. Air Force for eight years. At the White Sands Missile Range, he designed analog and digital data acquisition systems for operational and environmental testing of guidance systems and navigational systems. At Wright-Patterson AFB, he managed the development and acquisition of infrared navigational and targeting systems for use on fighter jets. He holds a master's degree in electrical engineering.

Drexel is a member of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association. He has served as a trustee on the boards of several nonprofit organizations that serve the Greater Cleveland area and has recently completed two terms as president of the Shaker Heights Board of Education.
