George J. Hartnett

George Hartnett concentrates his practice in the corporate merger, acquisition and divestiture area, and in providing structural, governance and contractual advice to corporations, limited partnerships and limited liability companies, their governing bodies and equity holders. His background also includes substantial experience in financing and work-out related matters.

George has represented buyers and sellers of businesses in a wide variety of transactions, including a large number of transactions where he has represented financial buyers or management in highly-leveraged acquisitions involving multiple tiers of debt and equity. In these transactions, he is able to rely on the capabilities of other attorneys in the firm to provide support in the labor and employment, intellectual property, tax, pension, environmental and litigation analysis areas, among others, in order to assist his clients in reviewing and analyzing potential targets.

George has developed strong relationships with a number of regional and national investment bankers, who look to him for assistance or guidance in connection with transactions.

From 2003 through 2010, George served as Managing Partner and Chair of the Executive Committee. During his tenure, the firm expanded and diversified its New York office by adding more transactional and commercial litigation work, opened an office in Boston to better serve clients and extend the firm's reach in the mid-Atlantic region and reinvigorated its practice groups.
