George T. Manning

George Manning is a trial lawyer who represents individuals and corporations facing significant risks from economic factors, competitors, and governments. In over 35 years of trial practice, including four years as AUSA in the Southern District of New York, he has been plaintiff and defense counsel in antitrust, securities, governance, health care, and administrative matters for U.S. and foreign companies operating in the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. George has tried cases in state and federal courts in Texas, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, New York, California, Missouri, and Virginia.

George has represented financial institution clients, including officers and directors, holding companies, and controlling persons, as well as institutions in hostile takeovers and clients making claims against the U.S. government.

Since leaving the U.S. Attorney's office in the 1980s, George also has been counsel in antitrust criminal prosecutions, merger challenges, class actions, and parallel criminal and administrative investigations in the U.S. and abroad. He led significant matters for clients in the telecommunications, airline, medical and health care, and paper and forestry industries.

Since the passage of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in 1977, George has led internal investigations for companies and board committees investigating accounting, foreign payment, and export control and customs issues. He has defended securities class actions and SEC enforcement proceedings related to loan loss reserves, software capitalization, revenue recognition, insider trading, and the FCPA.

George has handled restructuring matters in and out of court, including litigation and investigative roles in major bankruptcies since 1984, representing debtors and creditor committees in adversary proceedings, confirmation, and other hearings.
