Georgia K. Winston

Georgia Winston is a partner in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She is a member of Gibson Dunn’s Litigation Practice Group.

Ms. Winston’s practice focuses on white collar criminal and regulatory matters and complex commercial litigation. She has represented corporate and individual clients in the financial services, healthcare, insurance, retail and construction industries.

Ms. Winston served as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond A. Jackson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and in the Staff Attorneys’ Office of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She earned her Juris Doctor in 1999 from New York University School of Law and received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from Wesleyan University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Ms. Winston is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Representative Matters

National retailer: Representing a national retailer in a series of tax-related litigations across the country;
Senior executive of a financial services company: Represented a senior executive of a financial services company in connection with state and federal investigations of, and related civil litigation regarding, disclosures and accounting in connection with complex financial instruments; the DOJ and SEC ultimately closed their two-year investigations without bringing any charges;
Home-health-aide provider: Represented a home-health-aide provider in connection with healthcare-related larceny charges brought by the New York Attorney General’s Office; as a result of our discovery of exculpatory evidence that prosecutors failed to disclose, the court issued sanctions and the prosecutors ultimately agreed to dismiss the felony criminal charges against the company;
Construction company: Represented a construction company and its president in connection with an investigation by the New York County District Attorney’s Office into fraudulent tax and related practices; the District Attorney’s Office was ultimately persuaded to settle the case without charges against the company; and
Fortune 500 company: Represented a Fortune 500 company in successful appeal of decision by New York City agency that would have stripped the company of its long-standing franchise of citywide provider of services.
