Gregory W. Knopp

Gregory Knopp is a member of the firm’s labor and employment practice primarily focusing on class and collective actions and other complex employment disputes. Mr. Knopp represents clients in a multitude of industries, including financial services and other professional services, retail, technology and health care.

Practice & Background

Mr. Knopp has handled a variety of complex matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including matters involving wage and hour claims, discrimination and harassment claims and contract claims.

Mr. Knopp also regularly counsels clients on traditional labor and employment issues, including employment policies, contracts and non-compete issues, discrimination issues, benefits issues, reductions-in-force and communications to employees. He has conducted union collective bargaining, developed strategies for managing and avoiding union relationships, conducted labor arbitrations, performed labor due diligence and otherwise advised management with respect to corporate transactions.

Mr. Knopp received his J.D. with high honors in 1996 from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of The Georgetown Law Journal, and his B.A. in government from Cornell University in 1992.
Representative Matters

Mr. Knopp’s recent engagements include:

a multiweek class action trial in a case involving claims that challenged a company’s practices concerning customer tips and sought monetary recovery in excess of $100 million
a summary judgment in a class action that involved overtime and break claims brought on behalf of a statewide class of healthcare workers
a summary judgment in a class action involving overtime claims brought on behalf of a statewide class of more than 5,000 retail managers
denial of class certification in a case involving overtime and break claims brought on behalf of a statewide class of over 20,000 retail workers
several trials in cases that involved claims of retaliation, harassment and discrimination.
