Heather G. Havette

Ms. Havette is a partner in Seyfarth Shaw LLP’s national Wage & Hour Litigation Practice Group, and devotes her practice to advising employers of their rights and obligations under the Fair Labor Standards Act and representing management in litigation and administrative enforcement actions arising under state and federal wage and hour laws. She has defended numerous class and collective actions brought by employees alleging a variety of state and federal wage and hour violations. She has also defended employers in investigations brought by state and federal Departments of Labor. Ms. Havette specializes in the management of large actions involving numerous employees or groups of employees and has extensive experience with data collection, efficient and Lean case management and exposure analysis activities in the class action context.

In addition to her litigation experience, Ms. Havette regularly advises employers on proactive ways to comply with state and federal wage and hour laws. She also has considerable experience in conducting large scale audits of employer workforces. Ms. Havette’s counseling and litigation experience crosses many employment sectors, including retail, defense, transportation, bio-pharma, insurance, finance, and hospitality.

Ms. Havette speaks at public and employer-specific seminars regarding employers’ compliance with wage and hour matters and contributes to publications such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Cumulative Supplement, ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law and the ALM Law Journal Press wage and hour treatise.

Ms. Havette is also heavily involved in philanthropic initiatives, including serving on the Advisory Cabinet for the Metro Atlanta Heart Walk.
