James is a tax attorney specializing in the US federal income tax laws relating to partnerships, limited liability companies and their partners/members. He has over 17 years of transactional tax experience that has focused on maximizing the tax benefits and minimizing the tax risks of client activities on an integrated basis with the non-tax business terms of each deal (such as cash flow, debt service, management rights and exit rights).
James is currently a Director of Studio Tax at The Walt Disney Company.
James obtained his JD from Hastings College of the Law and an LLM in Taxation from New York University's School of Law. James is a licensed attorney in California and has been a member of the State Bar of California from 1996 to the present. He is also a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) by the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors (AIRA).
James teaches partnership tax as an adjunct professor at California State University Northridge's Masters in Taxation program. He is a former Chairman of the Entertainment Tax Committee and Corporate Tax Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
