James Do joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2013. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.

Prior to joining Jones Day, James worked as a student attorney with the University of Michigan Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic, where he advised start-up clients on a variety of matters pertaining to the formation and funding of new businesses. He also served as board member and treasurer of the law school's Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, actively participating in the planning of school wide cultural events and restoring the organization to financial sustainability.

James is a Bay Area native and has been active in his home community. In 2006, he co-founded a Fremont, California-based educational business that has prepared hundreds of students for college while donating thousands of dollars to local and international charitable causes.
