Jeffrey D. Dintzer

Jeffrey D. Dintzer is a partner in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s Los Angeles office. He is a member of the Environmental Litigation and Mass Tort Practice Group as well as the Litigation Department. Mr. Dintzer focuses on litigation involving the environment and land use entitlements. He has significant experience in defending large toxic tort cases and class action litigation involving hundreds of plaintiffs. Mr. Dintzer also has significant experience in managing private cost recovery litigation in state and federal court. He has substantial trial experience in cases involving environmental claims.

Mr. Dintzer has extensive experience in the following areas:

CEQA Litigation Practice and Eminent Domain Actions

Cost Recovery Actions under CERCLA, RCRA, and the State Equivalents

Mass and Toxic Tort Defense

He also has experience in providing assistance and advice concerning complex water rights issues and has managed several lawsuits concerning water rights. Representative matters include:

Beaumont Cherry Valley Water District v. City of Banning - Water rights litigation that resulted in a complete defense judgment for our client the City of Banning.
City of San Bernardino v. San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District - Represented the City of San Bernardino in a suit to recover costs associated with damage caused by the recharge of the Bunker Hill Groundwater Basin. Obtained a cash settlement of $3.5 million before trial commenced.

Mr. Dintzer has written numerous articles and a book chapter concerning a wide range of environmental issues, including co-authoring “Cleanup Liability and Cost Recovery” in Matthew Bender’s reference California Environmental Law and Land Use Practice (1995).

Mr. Dintzer has been with the firm since 1989, following his graduation from Boston University School of Law, cum laude, and clerkship with U.S. District Chief Judge Alicemarie H. Stotler.
