Jeffrey G. Mote

Jeffrey G. Mote is a patent attorney and litigator with a wide-ranging intellectual property litigation and counseling practice. Jeff’s practice focuses on the protection, enforcement and defense of intellectual property rights. He has litigated patent, copyright, trademark, unfair competition and trade secret cases throughout the United States and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a broad range of clients. He also represents clients in intellectual property transactions, including those involving mergers and acquisitions, licensing and intellectual property portfolio management. Jeff clerked for the Honorable Harlington Wood, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has extensive appellate experience.

Jeff’s patent litigation experience involves a broad array of technologies and industries, including plastic injection molding methods and machinery, consumer electronics (e.g., remote controls, television receivers, touch panels), digital video and audio signal processing, data encryption, programmable CNC machinery, navigational avionics and control systems, mechanical devices (e.g., bicycle gears and suspensions, hoist rings, boxes, lawn mowers, floor systems), wireless communication systems, eCommerce business methods, medical devices, and software (e.g., network servers, messaging, web page generation). He has an extensive trademark anti-counterfeiting practice, including the representation of several major multinational brand owners from a variety of industries, such as consumer products, financial services, footwear and apparel and food and beverages. His anti-counterfeiting experience includes coordinating counterfeiting investigations with local and federal law enforcement offices, and obtaining expedited relief, such as temporary restraining orders, ex parte seizures and preliminary injunctions, for his clients.

Jeff manages, oversees and polices the intellectual property portfolios for several large, middle market and startup entities. He has extensive experience negotiating and preparing intellectual property and technology license agreements, non-disclosure agreements and employee non-compete covenants. Jeff advises clients concerning the acquisition and sale of intellectual property rights, and has extensive experience conducting intellectual property due diligence investigations and advising clients on intellectual property issues involved in mergers and acquisitions, technology transfers and other business transactions.

Jeff is a member of Greenberg Traurig's eDiscovery & eRetention Practice and he frequently counsels clients on implementing litigation holds, complying with ESI discovery obligations and creating document retention policies.
