Jennifer Ancona Semko

Jennifer Semko practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, internal investigations and business crimes. She has litigated in state and federal courts across the United States, often in matters involving international disputes and requiring an understanding of cross-border judicial processes. She also has more than 10 years of experience in representing clients under investigation by the US Department of Justice, SEC, NYSE, Senate Finance Committee, United Nations and other agencies. Ms. Semko is a member of the Washington office’s Recruiting, Diversity and Associate Development Committees and serves as co-chair of the Women’s Affinity Group.
Practice Focus

Ms. Semko has litigated domestic and international matters involving a diverse range of issues such as breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, copyright, breach of fiduciary duties and securities fraud. A former law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, she has briefed and argued appeals before several state and federal appellate courts. In addition to providing risk management and litigation avoidance advice, Ms. Semko also has represented clients in investigations by a variety of US and other agencies involving alleged violations of securities, antitrust, anti-corruption, immigration, export sanctions and other laws. Ms. Semko has specialized experience in advising test developers on legal and strategic issues related to protection of their intellectual property, including pursuing copyright infringement litigation against exam pirates and implementation of decisions to invalidate candidate scores. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to exam security and the rights and responsibilities of licensing and certification exam developers.
