John Morio focuses his practice on the resolution of general liability claims in the construction, transportation and housing sectors. His civil defense work involves assisting clients with product liability and toxic tort/environmental matters. While John has tried many cases throughout his career, his forte is the early resolution of claims through mediation and informal settlement conferences.

Many of John’s cases involve the defense of building owners, contractors and subcontractors in personal injury claims under New York Labor Law arising from accidents on construction sites. He has an especially strong background defending vehicle leasing and rental companies in finance-related litigation as well as automobile liability claims alleging catastrophic injury and wrongful death. He also handles catastrophic and complex property damage subrogation claims. Other areas in which John has experience include premises liability and security, lead paint poisoning, asbestos and benzene exposure, and oil spills and other environmental matters involving personal injury, wrongful death and property damage claims. In addition to defending insureds, John frequently provides coverage opinions, analyzes policies and defenses, and monitors litigation on behalf of insurance carriers. He directly litigates cases brought in New York courts and has supervised litigation in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, District of Columbia, Florida and other parts of the country.
