John Budetti

is a partner in the Firm's New York office focusing his practice on counseling sponsors of private equity funds and forming their investment vehicles. Since 2005, he has represented private fund sponsors organizing funds ranging in size from $75 million to $4.5 billion.

John also counsels private fund sponsors on a variety of matters involving sponsor's operational, legal, compliance, and governance matters; internal economic arrangements; alternative investment vehicle structures and M&A transactions; strategic investments; as well as joint ventures, spin-outs and other corporate transactions involving private investment funds.

John is praised as "excellent" in The Legal 500 U.S.’s 2014 Tier 1 Ranking of Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s Private Equity Funds Practice.

He has significant experience with a diverse group of private investment firms, and representative clients include Altaris Capital Partners, Audax Group, Braemar Energy Ventures, Coller Capital, GTCR LLC, H.I.G. Capital, Kinderhook Industries, Lincolnshire Management and Summit Partners, among others.
