Joseph A. Cialone II

Joe Cialone’s primary areas of practice include director and officer responsibilities and liabilities, corporate and securities litigation, internal investigations, investigations by the SEC and other governmental agencies and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Cialone served as an adjunct professor of law at The University of Texas School of Law for many years, and for fifteen years he taught an advanced seminar on corporate governance at the law school. He has spoken on various corporate governance and securities law subjects at continuing legal education programs sponsored by the American and Houston Bar Associations, the State Bar of Texas and at Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management.

Mr. Cialone served as a trustee of the University of Texas Law School Foundation (2002-2008) and also served as president of the Texas Law Review Association. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Corporate Compliance Center at the South Texas College of Law.

Upon graduation from The University of Texas, Mr. Cialone was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of captain before resigning his commission. While serving in Vietnam, he commanded a rifle company and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

In November and December 2000, he coordinated Baker Botts’ efforts in Houston to assist the firm’s trial team in Florida in the various presidential election contest cases that culminated in the defeat of Vice President Gore’s challenges to the Florida presidential election results.
