Joseph E. Floren is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Floren's practice focuses on corporate and securities litigation, including the defense of class and derivative actions and representation of securities broker-dealers, investment managers, and other financial services companies in all aspects of litigation and related regulatory matters.

Mr. Floren has tried more than 20 cases to verdict or award before courts, juries, and arbitrators. In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Floren regularly represents securities industry clients and issuers of securities in investigations and enforcement proceedings before federal and state securities regulators and self-regulatory organizations.

Mr. Floren's clients include public companies, banks, and securities firms. His recent engagements of note include the successful defense, as lead trial counsel, of a financial services company in the jury trial of a $301 million intellectual property claim that ended in a defense verdict after five weeks of trial; and obtaining for another financial service client the dismissal with prejudice of a securities class action alleging claims relating to mutual fund disclosures and sales practices.

Mr. Floren received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1993, where he was senior articles editor for the Hastings Law Journal. He received his B.A., cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego in 1990.
