Julie is a member of Reed Smith's Commercial Litigation Group. Her practice includes complex commercial litigation, class actions, and cases within the financial services industry. Additionally, a substantial part of her practice focuses on disputes within the entertainment, advertising, gaming and media industries including privacy and publicity rights, copyright, trademark, trade secret, idea submission, profit participation, financing, acquisition, licensing and distribution disputes, breach of contract, as well advertising, marketing and unfair competition claims. Julie also advises companies on advertising compliance, fair use and how to protect and promote their intellectual property online.

Prior to joining Reed Smith, Julie worked in the film and entertainment industry for ten years, most recently as an independent producer. She began her career as the assistant to the President of Creative Artists Agency (CAA). She left CAA to become the creative executive at Reese Witherspoon's production company (Type A Films) where she developed and assisted on LEGALLY BLONDE 2. Then she became Vice President of Element Films, an independent financier, for whom she oversaw production for WAITING… (starring Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris). Additionally, she produced four independent films which attained distribution.

Her position at Element Films and as an independent producer involved a full range of contract negotiations, financing and distribution deals, as well as managing onset production.
