Sam focuses his practice primarily on commercial litigation and construction law. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation, Construction Litigation, and Construction Law. His construction litigation practice includes representing owners, contractors, and subcontractors in disputes involving construction contracts, construction and design defects, and mechanics’ liens, among others. In addition, Sam’s construction law practice includes drafting, negotiating, and reviewing construction and design contracts. He also handles a wide variety of real estate litigation and other commercial litigation matters, such as disputes concerning restrictive covenants, commercial leases, land sale contracts, real property tax appeals, stock and asset purchase agreements, goods supply contracts, medical billing contracts, and trade secrets. Sam has represented clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts in North Carolina and other jurisdictions, in matters before the North Carolina Property Tax Commission and the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, and in arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association and the International Chamber of Commerce.
