Tom Mavrakakis is a patent litigator with experience in a wide variety of technology areas including mobile devices and gene targeting.

Tom also focuses his practice on pre-litigation analysis for patent assertions and licensing as well as the analysis of patent portfolios for potential acquisition. He counsels clients on many types of patent-related matters, including patent portfolio development strategy, patent assertions, acquisitions and other pre-litigation strategy. He is adept at performing due diligence on the intellectual property aspects in the corporate acquisition context.

Tom brings a unique perspective to his practice, having worked as Director of Patent Strategy for Apple Inc. during the rollout of the first generation iPhone. There, he managed pre-litigation analysis and conflict resolution for patent assertions, negotiated licenses, managed patent infringement cases, and analyzed patent portfolios for potential acquisition. He was also involved with patent mediations and managed some patent prosecution matters, including those involving patent reexamination and reissue proceedings.

Prior to his work at Apple, Tom was a partner at Howrey Simon Arnold & White, where he managed and participated in patent and trade secret litigations on behalf of both plaintiff and defendant corporations.
