Timothy L. Bransford

Tim Bransford advises clients on telecommunications related regulatory issues before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and foreign regulators.

Tim counsels clients on domestic and international regulations regarding the launch and operation of geostationary and nongeostationary communications satellite networks. Tim also assists clients seeking approval to operate complex Mobile Satellite Service (MSS), Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and Earth Station on board Vessel (ESV) networks, and has successfully obtained licenses to operate ground station facilities in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and in excess of a dozen African nations. Tim regularly meets with the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) and Wireless Bureau to seek approval for clients to test and operate cutting edge terrestrial wireless network infrastructure using advanced modulation schemes and applications, and also represents clients seeking OET approval to market and distribute next generation wireless devices in the U.S. market. Tim advises domestic and international clients on state and federal data security obligations, and also electronic surveillance and wiretap regulations.

Prior to joining Bingham, Tim served as a law clerk in the FCC’s Satellite Division. Before attending law school, Tim held management positions at several prominent international carriers based in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
