Tom Croft is an associate in the Patent Counseling & Prosecution practice group and is a member of the Cooley Litigation department. He joined the Firm in 2005 and is resident in the Colorado office.

Mr. Croft's practice focuses on intellectual property, particularly patent counseling, preparation, and prosecution; and support of litigation and transactional matters. His electrical practice includes a wide variety of emerging technologies, including software.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Croft was a patent agent and, later, a patent attorney at Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) in Fort Collins, Colorado. While at HP, he drafted and prosecuted patent applications directed to a variety of electrical and mechanical technologies, his primary area of emphasis being digital cameras. Previously, he was an applied research engineer and, later, a patent engineer at Ericsson Inc. in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Before joining Ericsson, he was a Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Whippany, New Jersey. Mr. Croft is an inventor on ten issued U.S. patents.

Mr. Croft received a JD, Order of St. Ives, from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2005. He received a BSEE, magna cum laude, and an MSEE from Brigham Young University in 1986 and 1987, respectively, and he received an Associate of Arts & Sciences (journalism major) from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, in 1982.

Mr. Croft is a member of the Colorado Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the Colorado Bar Association.
