William Brad Nes

W. Brad Nes is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Nes has a diverse civil litigation practice, with a particular focus on commercial, products liability, and environmental litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He routinely represents clients in the oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing, retail, pharmaceutical, and energy industries.

Mr. Nes has experience litigating complex commercial and business disputes involving a wide range of claims, including contract claims, warranty claims, construction claims, unjust enrichment, unfair business practices, fraud, and alleged violations of various state and federal statutes such as civil RICO. Mr. Nes has also defended clients against lawsuits alleging negligence, products liability, and environmental contamination, including cost recovery claims under CERCLA. In addition, he has defended clients against putative consumer class actions alleging deceptive trade practices involving both prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Mr. Nes has first-chair jury trial experience in federal court and has briefed and argued dispositive motions before state and federal courts in the District of Columbia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Ohio. Most recently, he was a member of the trial team that secured a complete trial victory for an oilfield services client in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill litigation.

In 2014, Mr. Nes was named a 'Rising Star' in the area of Business Litigation by Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers.

Mr. Nes also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in significant constitutional litigation before trial and appellate courts throughout the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court. In 2011, he received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Nes served as a law clerk to Judge Sam R. Cummings of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Mr. Nes received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 2005, where he was inducted into the Order of Barristers. He received his M.St. in history from Oxford University in 2002 and his B.A., with high honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, where he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Nes is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Texas and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Tenth, and District of Columbia Circuits; the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas; and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
