Mr. Weigel is senior counsel in Davis Polk’s Tax Department, advising clients on a range of tax matters with an emphasis on private funds that invest in merchant banking, infrastructure, real estate and venture capital transactions. His private fund work includes creating tax efficient structures for complex funds and for participation by individual professionals, as well as for domestic and international M&A transactions of private funds. He also advises on unrelated business taxable income (“UBTI”) for pensions and other tax-exempt entities and on U.S. tax considerations for foreign private and governmental investors.
In addition, Mr. Weigel works on partnership tax transactions, real estate transactions (including public and private REITs), foreign investments, regulated investment companies and other retail investment vehicles and public security offerings.
