Yoshihide Ito

Yoshihide Ito’s practice includes wide-ranging matters on international trade policy and transnational business between the United States and Japan, especially those involving government agencies. In the area of international trade and trade policy, his practice includes export/import law (including export/import control, customs regulations, antidumping and other import remedies, etc.), foreign sanctions laws and regulations. He also provides counseling on matters facing foreign corporations doing business in the United States and Japan, including intellectual property and other relevant issues administrative procedures, registration for lobbying and immigration.

Before joining the firm, Yoshihide served in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. While with the Foreign Ministry, he served, among various positions, as deputy director of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Division and Cultural Affairs Division, assistant director of the First North American Affairs Division, and was actively engaged in handling political and economic matters between Japan and the United States. He was also a member of the Japanese delegation of the final phase of the market access negotiations of the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). Earlier in his career at the Foreign Ministry, he served as aide to the Japanese Ambassador to the United States in Washington, D.C. He also served as an official interpreter for the prime minister and the foreign minister and has participated in a number of official meetings at the highest levels of government.
