David Duncan Maysilles

Duncan Maysilles

is an attorney with the Discovery Center, King & Spalding’s pre-eminent solution to providing cost-effective and centralized discovery services, which he joined in 2006. His practice focuses on electronic discovery issues, with an emphasis on automotive, consumer product, energy, banking, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electric utility, and intellectual property clients.

Mr. Maysilles received a Ph.D. in History from the University of Georgia in 2008 and his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law in 1979. He earned a B.A. in English, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the North Carolina State Bar.

Publications

Ducktown Smoke: The Fight over One of the South’s Greatest Environmental Disasters (University of North Carolina Press, 2011). This is an exploration of the smoke litigation that arose from environmental damage caused sulfur dioxide pollution generated by the copper industry at the Georgia – Tennessee border, and of how the private smoke suits led to the Supreme Court’s first air pollution case, Georgia v. Tennessee Copper Co., 206 U.S. 230 (1907), a seminal decision in American environmental law.
