David J. Lowery

David Lowery represents clients in large complex real estate transactions, focusing on acquisitions and dispositions of projects and portfolios, mergers and acquisitions of real estate companies, financings, and joint ventures. He has significant experience in international real estate transactions as well as distressed asset transactions and workouts.

Recent transactions include Mill Creek Residential Trust's sponsorship of multi-family build-to-core and acquisition funds; numerous investments for TriGate Capital including the acquisition of the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove, Florida; Whitman Peterson’s investment in 19 hotels in partnership with a leading hotel manager; and numerous investments for HighBrook Investment including TriWest Plaza in Dallas, Texas. Prior transactions include the formations of Mill Creek Residential Trust and GreenOak Real Estate; Morgan Stanley's $8.6 billion buyout of Canary Wharf, $6.5 billion buyout of Crescent Real Estate Equities, and $1.5 billion buyout of Town & Country Trust; CalEast's $3.4 billion buyout of Centerpoint Properties Trust; and initial public offerings for several real estate companies including Thomas Properties Group, Interstate Hotels Company, and Great Lakes REIT.

Other clients with which David has worked on substantial matters include Behringer Harvard Funds, E2M Partners, EDS, J. C. Penney, LCOR, Rialto Capital, Rockpoint Group, and Westbrook Real Estate Partners.

David co-chairs Jones Day's Real Estate Practice worldwide and leads the Real Estate Capital Markets Practice. He is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. He is currently an adjunct professor in real estate at SMU Dedman School of Law and frequently speaks on topics related to real estate private equity.
